I was first turned onto these little rubber worms by a friend who also got me into centerpin steelhead fishing. This little guys work great on the trout/steelhead I target on the Lake Ontario tribs from the big rivers to the creeks. I love the pink color, but the green and orange also produce fish.

About Me:

I love to wade in the river and fish for trout. Apart from fly fishing, when I'm spin casting, this is the lure I go to first and foremost. I can outfish even others that have live bait. The bubblegum color is the best one out of all of them. You can rig it just like a plastic worm onto the hook or on slow to still water, wacky worm style. Trout cannot resist this worm!

Pros: Awesome!!!
Cons: none
Best Uses: Excellent for trout, and all panfish

Awesome , most effective plastic worm for trout. I had great success with natural color, #12 hook, splitshot about 18" above the worm and let it bounce off bottom as water carries it downstream, slightly pump the tip of your rod. Also had good results with white color. I mainly fish trout streams and this is one of those baits that I always have on me, especially where live bait is not allowed .

Pros: Effective, productive at anytime
Cons: Unable to reuse
Best Uses: Trout stream

When the water is clear and the steelhead want nothing to do with the normal baits, flat line one of the worms in front of them. It takes some patience but they will take the worm when nothing else will do.

Used it to sight fish smallmouth in gin clear water. I've known the fish were there for several weeks and haven't had any luck catching bass. Tried fly fishing, spin fishing rooster tails and jigs with not much luck. Today I broke out the 3" trout worm and sight fished it on 6# test. I let the worm drift with the current into the deep holes and the smallmouth KILLED it. Caught bout 20 in 3 hours. Didn't have time to fish all my holes because I caught so many before I had to leave. I won't go back without these baits in my pocket!

I use these for trout and have had great success in the Lower Illinois, Missouri trout parks and local trout ponds. Usually fish them with a split shot 12-18 inches above the worm. Don't be afraid to change colors as some days the trout clearly prefer dark or bright worms. Added bonus, the worms work great in ponds for panfish and smaller bass.

Use white for Brooks and Browns, Pink or Chartruese for Rainbows, and Pink for the hard to catch Golden Trout (Palamino?). Push on hook to back shank of hook leaving hook tip exposed and the tail of worm to wag in the water. Put a small splitshot 18 inches above the hook. Let it drift downstream and set hook when it stops moving. Also works well for steelhead on the Lake Erie tribs.

Centre, Al
About Me:
Avid Fisher
Used in several ways for Bass & trout. The fish love it, but it is to soft at the head end. Rips to easy, will not stay on the hook. I have tried several things from using hooks with bait keeper barbs on the shank to winding thread with super glue to make a surface on the hooks shank to hold the worm. Nothing works very well. I like the cream trout worm better because it is tuff at the head and will stay together even after several fish, but it very stiff through out it's body. I would like to use the cream's head on the Berkley's body. The "soft" (not bright) pink w/white underside is by far the best for me, but I'm going to the cream worm for the above reasons.

These little guys are great. As soon as you cast out, you're reeling in! And the best part is they can be used over and over. The first one we tried was a used one we found on the side of the lake. We caught 11 trout between the three of us! All weighing between 1 to 2-1/2lbs. My husbands only negative comment was that he didn't get to sit down for very long.

The best artificial trout bait!
North Carolina
About Me:
Avid Fisher
If I go trout fishing, this is the bait to must have in my vest. The bubble gum out-fishes any color. Pink shad would be next and then cheese onto the white. If you want to make all fly fishermen so mad that they cannot see straight, put one of these on and start reeling in the trout one after another. You will not regret having this one in your tackle box or fishing vest. I use this on a size 12 or 14 thin gauge snell hook with a no. sp7 split shot (depending on the water current) about 12-18 inches above. It is just amazing how this worm works! Try wacky worm set-up too, it works just as well.

The 3 inch trout worms work great. I have been using them in an artifcal only stretch where the fly fisherman usually catch the fish. They have been coming up to me asking me what I'm using because my son and I are out fishing them by a long shot. Pink seems to be by far the best color, pick up a few on bubblegum and cheese but the other 6-7 colors we have tried have had poor results. The one morning I got 12 rainbows in about 75 minutes until i ran out of pink then only got 3 rainbows in next 3-4 hours.

About Me:

Good alternative to powerbait, also because you can set the hook, and can catch and release more effectively. I fish it "wacky style" on a size 8 or 10 baithook in the middle of the worm with a small weight 18 inches up, slowly reeling it along the bottom allowing the 2 ends of the worm to float and move. Sometimes cutting the worms at 4 inches or so I find can attract bigger fish.
