Berkley Gulp! 2.5" Minnow

Description

Through technology exclusive to Berkley, Gulp! baits release scent 400X more than regular plastic baits. Gulp! is 100 percent biodegradable — the first bait of its kind.

The Gulp! 2.5" Minnow is the perfect jig trailer or trolling bait. It has a very lifelike appearance and is more durable and lasts longer than a live minnow.

Please note we can no longer ship Gulp! Alive or Gulp! baits to Australia or New Zealand because of customs import restrictions. AU and NZ customs demand a list of ingredients for the baits, which is proprietary information that Berkley will not disclose. Due to this fact, we must cancel any order for these baits to the above countries. Thanks for your understanding.

Much softer than the 3" version....using chartreuse shad in SALTWATER. Being softer it both goes on (and comes off) the hook easier and I believe provides a better hookset due to its easier penetration. For some reason Berkley does not offer this color in a Gulp Alive version. I wish they did and have told them so. I'll bet it would tear up the crappie, yellow and white perch.
Pros: effective
Cons: package size

I like to try new products fishing for crappies each year @ Black Lake, N.Y. These were a big hit last fall, so much so that we ran out of most colors. Caught fish when the fishing was tough.

Very Productive Bait

I have been fishing Berkley Gulp 2.5" Minnows for over a year. I have found them to be very productive for trout. I am retired and river fish for trout approximately 80+ times throughout the twelve months of the year. I like to fish spinners (cover a lot of water quickly) and flies (traditionalist in me) on ultralight tackle. When they are not very productive, I can usually rely on a 2.5" Berkley Gulp Minnow (Smelt) to get the trout to bite. If the water is murky after a rain, Chartreuse Shad works well for me. One drawback is that the bait tears easily.
Pros: Looks Realistic, Easy To Handle, Easy To Store
Cons: Tears easily
Best Uses: Fresh Water
Great for finessing trout

First time I used these minnows I caught 14 trout (Watermelon Pearl) in a heavily pressured urban lake. I set it up as a carolina rig with about 3' of 2 lb fluorocarbon leader and used a #10 red hook through the nose and out the top. I allowed the bait to settle to the bottom (15') while I slowed cranked a spinning reel. The only problem was I could maybe use the bait once or twice since it would tear easily and become unusable. I found I would get bites quicker using shad Nitro Gravy. This comibination is a killer bait for slow biting trout!
Pros: Easy To Handle, Irresistible to Fish
Cons: Limited Use
Best Uses: Shore Casting

Little hard for hook sets, may need to let fish take before you try and set the hook. But what I have found really is that fish will just crush this bait..
