I haven't yet used this reel but it looks great. I hope to use it this week on the salmon. The intended use is for salmon fishing in the river, gut, or lagoon, as opposed to in the surf, as I have larger Abu-Garcia models for this. I like the write-up from Abu-Garcia hence my purchase. The retrieve rate is 6.4 to 1 which is higher than the larger 5500 and 6500 models I am using though own servicing may not be as easy as the 5500 and 6500 models.
