I have been using bait casters for a few years now, but the Black Max is the first Abu Garcia reel I have used. I got this rod and reel as a graduation gift from my brother, and it is the best reel I have ever used! It performs flawlessly with every cast. It has never backlashed on me even when I cast my lure fairly forcefully. I was impressed with this reel since the first cast. I highly recommend this rod and reel to anyone that loves to fish. From now on I only use Abu Garcia rods and reels, they are reliable, durable, and just a joy to fish with.

It's worth the money you pay for it. About $47 to $55 is what they run. If you are a begginer at using a bait cast you may not want to learn on this one. Remember you are paying an average price for a piece of equipment. There are much better reels on the market with much higher price. As with anything learn how to use it before you go to the lake are you will be frustrated and will spend more time untangling the birdnest you created by your lack of skills.If your are a beggining angler, try learning on something like a Mitchel Avorist spincast. Dont waste good money on stuff like Zebcos 202 0r the like. They will not last and you will be buying another rod and reel soon. sometime you can catch this rod and reel combo on sale for [...]
