Olive Quill (BWO)
The Olive Quill imitates the baetis mayflies, common in most trout waters in the United States, during much of the year. Hatches start late winter in southern waters, lasting into the late fall. This is one fly that all trout stream anglers should carry, as trout will often take the BWO over bigger insects hatching at the same time.
This fly is tied with a olive dyed quill body rather than a dubbed fur body. This gives it a slimmer profile on the water.
These flies are tied on Mustad or Dai-Riki hooks and are hackled with Hoffman (Whitting Farms) hackle.
This fly is available in size 20.
