Okuma Magnitude MD Series Fly Reels
The ultra-light Magnitude series of fly reels is one of the world's only magnesium fly reels. This reel weighs far less than conventional aluminum or steel reels, while still maintaining strength. These cast magnesium reels are coated with a four-coat process for a durable and elegant powder-coat finish.
This is the Magnitude "MD" model, with the traditional arbor. We also stock the Magnitude "ML" large arbor series.
The Magnitude MD series reels feature a stainless-steel and Teflon disc–drag system. The drag is controlled by a one-way roller bearing which allows for drag-free retrieval. These reels have a very wide drag range - from no drag at all to full drag which would stop most any fish within the reel's suggested range.
These Magnitude MD reels are very similar to the comparable models of the Okuma Sierra reels except for their magnesium construction and lighter weight.

Like the Sierras, the MD 5/6 is larger in diameter than the MD 7/8, but the MD 5/6 has a narrower spool.
The reel states that it is designed for fresh water use only and that use in salt water voids the warranty.
