The concept of the power ice drill for ice fishing began in 1948 with a member of the Plymouth Wisconsin Fire Department who loved to ice fish. This avid ice fisherman was also a truck driver and delivered and picked up product from Lauson Engine Company (Tecumseh) in New Holstein, WI. He purchased an engine from Lauson and endeavored to build a rig to cut through the lake ice with power. He developed his idea with Marvin Feldmann, a small business owner with good mechanical ability. After many tries they succeeded to develop a product that could cut through the ice, with engine power, in a reasonable fashion. Thus, the Jiffy power ice drill came into being. Over 50 years later and Jiffy ice drills are lighter, include advanced ice cutting technology, and are safer and easier to handle. Winter fishing enthusiasts throughout the world recognize and enjoy Jiffy as one of the best ice drills on the market today.
