G. Loomis created three entry-level fly rod outfits to remove the fear, anxiety and confusion that too-often accompanies the first time fly rod purchase. In short, they wanted to make it simple, really simple. What they came up with is three terrific beginner outfits that are ready to hit the water. Each kit comes complete with a great single-action fly reel loaded with backing, the correct weight fly line and a tapered leader. The package includes an impact resistant, transparent rod case and a soft wrap-around reel cover. Add a bug and you’re ready to hit the water!
The three available kits are described next, and additional specifications are provided in the table below.
The Passage Kit is designed to fish panfish and trout on small streams and ponds. The rod is a beautiful emerald green and comes equipped with a single-action fly reel loaded with mint green weight forward fly line attached to sixty yards of backing and a tapered leader. No long difficult presentation required, just get the fly on the water and watch what happens. This kit is G. Loomis model FR904.
The Free Drift Kit is designed to fish mid-size to larger streams for trout. The rod is an attractive mahogany red. The single-action reel is ready to fish with sixty yards of backing, a weight forward fly line and a tapered leader. This outfit will be equally effective on big freestone streams where big attractor patterns work on hungry fish and those crowded blue-ribbon streams that get lots of pressure. This kit is G. Loomis model FR1085.
The Rainbrook Kit is a classic six weight outfit. The rod is a beautiful walnut brown and the single action graphite reel is loaded with all the backing, weight forward line and a tapered leader to get you directly into more aggressive fishing. It's large streamers, wooly buggers and leeches. It's stripping your line in hard, fast pulls and reaction strikes. It's big rainbows, brookies and browns. It's good times! This kit is G. Loomis model FR1086.
