The Fenwick HMX salmon/steelhead rods are top quality graphite rods specially designed for steelhead and salmon fishing. These rods are built with cross-scrim construction that utilizes overlapping layers to achieve exceptional strength and action. These rods also include Hard Chromium SS304 guides with plated stainless steel guide rings. These guide rings are up to 55% lighter than conventional aluminum oxide rings guides and provide maximum sensitivity with less friction to improve casting distance, yet are still 20 times tougher.
Additional features of the rods include graphite reel seats (except the 10½ footer), premium cork grips, black chromed stainless steel guide frames, a hook keeper and a five year manufacturer's warranty. These are all two piece rods.
We stock these rods in four styles. The Model 83ML and the Model 90L both have the short butt style. The Model 86L has a more traditional handle and the upper reel seat is the hood type (where the reel slips into a hood on the rod). The Model 105XL has a long "Tennessee" style cork with sliding rings (in the drift rod style). The handles for these rods are shown in the table below.
