G. Loomis Stinger Series Since its beginnings in the 1960's, Scandinavian influence from top tournament casters and fishermen, schooled on famous Salmon/Seatrout rivers of Sweden and the west coast of Norway, have played a major role in the development of the highly versatile Scandinavian style. This style provides tremendous distance, depth and presentation control, all with minimal effort. Scandinavians use a looped Shooting Head line, available in differing densities, ranging in length from 34 to 42 feet depending on rod length, along with thin diameter shooting line. Teamwork from a fast butt hand stroke and relatively short upper hand stroke (overall about half the movement of traditional style casting), with a sudden stop to unload, forms narrow loops that can slice bread. These very narrow loops help make very long casts turn right over. This style cast is most effective with faster taper, yet very light rods.

The Stinger Series rods have just the right action, a powerful butt transitioning smoothly to a fast tip that will deliver the razor loops characteristic of the Scandinavian method of spey casting. This rod will keep you on the water longer with a smile on your face, and without giving you a case of the "jelly arms."

For the needs of the Scandinavian style of casting, these rods were designed to optimally cast floating or intermediate shooting heads of 33 to 46 feet. This is the most recent development in two-hand casting - a much faster, shorter stroke using the lower hand (underhand casting). These rods help you generate high line speed and give you great shooting distance casts. With a fast action taper, these rods let you make overhead false casts, generating the highest line speed possible (assuming you have sufficient room for back casting, such as gravel bar or ocean beaches).

The Stinger GLX featuring Loomis's proprietary GLX graphite tapered to the exact standards of Scandinavian style casting, along with the finest rod components available today. With nickel titanium recoil guides by REC these cast as slick as they look. Exquisitely crafted Portuguese cork handles with a special composite cork end-cap and fore-grip are fitted to Loomis's exclusive offset-oval sculptured barrel real seat, each with an ivory style insert engraved with a fly graphic. The GLX models are Highlander Green in color.

All these rods come with a beautiful triangular rod case with protective sock.

All G. Loomis rods are covered by the Manufacturer's Limited Lifetime Warranty. For details on the Loomis warranty, and their GL Xpediter Service program for quick replacement of your rod, please click HERE.
