Fly Tying Head Cement
Fly Tying Head Cement is a staple on every fly tyer's bench. Use a drop to seal the head on a standard dry fly or nymph pattern or build up glossy heads on classic salmon flies and streamers. We carry a Water Based Head Cement, a Solvent Based Head Cement and a Solvent Based Gloss Coat.
Water Based Head Cement is a good alternative to solvent based cements. This product is very thin in viscosity, allowing it to penetrate thread and materials for a good bond. It comes ready to use, can be thinned with water and is non-flammable. Water based head cement dries fully overnight and will not dissolve in water after it has cured. This cement does not produce a "shiny" head on flies unless several thin coats are applied.
Solvent Based Head Cement is great for building-up layers. This product is thin in viscosity and penetrates deeply into thread and other tying materials. It comes ready to use, can be thinned with fly head cement thinner. Solvent based head cement dries quickly and does not produce a "shiny" head on flies unless several thin coats are applied.
The Solvent Based Gloss Coat is a great final coating for built up fly heads. It has a medium viscosity and dries quickly. It comes ready to use, can be thinned with fly head cement thinner. Gloss Coat will create a durable shiny finish. This product is also good for a cover coat on fluorescent lacquers.
These cements comes in a glass jars with a screw-off top and contains one fluid ounce.
