For years, the highest quality graphite ice rods have simply been broken rod blanks cut down to an ice-fishing length. But things have changed. Mr. Ice Fishing, Dave Genz, captain of the Ice Team, has helped Berkley design a rod series that flexes just like a six-foot rod, with solid graphite blanks specifically made for ice fishing. No need for bobbers anymore, the solid graphite blank delivers all the sensitivity you need to detect and feel when a fish takes your bait.
These professional series rods have it all - a balanced, lightweight design, more parabolic curve, and five chrome-plated stainless steel guides with a smaller, lighter outside diameter and bigger inside diameter to reduce line freeze-up. These rod also features a premium cork handle and a fold-down hook keeper. They do not have any reel locks.
The "Lightning Rod" Professional Series is endorsed by the Ice Team, the only North American organization devoted to ice fishing.
